Once there I could add links to any parts of the Scapple diagram. I could screenshot an existing Scapple page and paste it into Excalidraw. That video was created before Excalidraw gained the ability to add images and screenshots. Royal Farms has been satisfying customers’ hunger for Real Fresh food served Real Fast. Regular mind maps and Scapple cant create those types of linked connections. Today, the chain has locations in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and West Virginia. Royal Farms opened its first store in Baltimore, MD in 1959 under the name White Jug. Royal Farms is a renowned operator of fast and friendly neighborhood convenience stores with more than 272 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Bringing scrapple back to our breakfast menu is a labor of love for the dish that inspired Labor Day. I can just start and figure it out as I go along. POS and ERP are the main names in the game and which software you go with depends primarily on what business problem you are trying to solve. I included this one partially in jest the acronym is ironic given the term’s intended use is to provide clarity - but unless the market adopts it, it’s just another three-letter acronym we need to Google. It stands for Store Operating Software and has been favored lately by industry analysts as the most accurate term when it comes to describing retail operating systems (ROS… the acronyms are truly endless). SOS is not quite a real term, so don’t beat yourself up if that stumped you. As a result, ERP software usually takes a long time to implement. They have a reputation for being clunky, expensive, inflexible, and complex. The most common usage today is to integrate an ERP with a POS to create a powerhouse of efficiency.ĮRP software was initially focused on large enterprise but as lite versions have come into play, they are gaining more popularity within small and medium businesses (SMBs) too. But, adoption was low, which is why most companies will include both POS and RMS in their marketing.ĮRP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning and refers to business management software that takes care of all aspects of your business - manufacturing, accounting, sales, marketing, etc.Ī lot of the functionality of an ERP crosses over with a modern-day POS, and that’s why when you Google ERP vs. RMS is an amicable example of the industry attempting to rename a product to better describe its usage and implementation today. RMS stands for Retail Management System, and refers to the modern-day, more robust POS I described above. And that’s where the playground gets muddy. That’s because there are so many other business modules within our software, which makes it so much more than a traditional description of a POS. You’ll notice we say “more than a POS” throughout the iQmetrix site. Many POS solutions include various other management tools such as inventory management, customer relationship management (CRM), reporting, as well as more Point of Service qualities like being able to schedule appointments and repairs. Modern POS solutions are so much more than just a point of purchase. The sales associate scans the item and charges the customer for their purchase, processes a return, or goes through with an exchange. Traditionally, POS software was built to handle the processing of a transaction. POS is the most common of the four acronyms and stands for Point of Sale, or more recently Point of Service. While some are more popular and have been around for years, are they actually that different or have we started using them interchangeably to mean the same thing? If you’re in the retail space you’ve no doubt heard these acronyms thrown around many times. Technically, "Cajun" cuisine should properly fit under the umbrella of "Creole" cuisine, much like "Cajuns" themselves traditionally fit under the "Creole" umbrella. Residents of Acadiana-a historically isolated and rural region-do not typically make gumbo with tomatoes, regardless of ancestry or self-proclaimed identity, whereas urban New Orleanians do. A typical example is cuisine: Many claim that "Cajun" gumbo does not include tomatoes whereas "Creole" gumbo does, but this distinction is better viewed as geographic rather than ethnic. It is common to see various demographic differences assigned to the Cajun/Creole binary. Īfter the Americanization of the Cajun Country in the 1950s and the implementation of the American black/white dichotomy, the term "Cajun" became synonymous with "white French Louisianian", due in part to CODOFIL's decision to promote Louisiana's link to Acadia in the "Cajun Renaissance", which began in the 1960s. Furthermore, it is also common for people in parishes such as Evangeline and Avoyelles to identify as Cajuns despite those parishes’ receiving few Acadian migrants in the wake of Le Grand Dérangement. For example, surnames like Guillory, Verret, Fontenot, LaFleur, Romero, Schexnaydre and McGee are commonly held to be Cajun names despite their original bearers' not being of Acadian extraction (with the names Romero, Schexnaydre and McGee being Spanish, German and Irish respectively). The above assertion is supported by numerous instances today of persons with non-Acadian surnames identifying as Cajuns. The term Cajun thus became a socioeconomic classification for the multicultural amalgam of several culturally and linguistically distinct groups. Hence poor Creoles of the bayou and prairie regions came to be permanently identified as Cajun. Their classification within the imposed black/white dichotomy did impact them economically when they dealt with Anglo-Americans it was during this time that "Cajun" began to eclipse "Creole" as the default French Louisianian term.Ĭarl Brasseaux notes in Acadian to Cajun, Transformation of a People, that:Ĭajun was used by Anglos to refer to all persons of French descent and low economic standing, regardless of their ethnic affiliation. Anglo-Americans (who adhered to a strict black/white dichotomy) struggled with the concept of a culturo-linguistic identity not based in race, and they identified the term "Creole" with mixed racial origins-a taboo and socially undesirable association for white Creoles due to the implementation of racial segregation & Jim Crow laws at the turn of the 19th century. In the twentieth century, the word "Creole" became the subject of much debate. The term Creole, on the other hand, increasingly came to designate urban Creoles from New Orleans or Mobile, Alabama, often from the middle class ( bourgeoisie) or the aristocracy ( grands habitants). After the American Civil War, bourgeois Louisiana Creoles increasingly used Cajun as the designation for Creoles from the Cajun Country or Creoles from the lower class, replacing the term petits habitants (Creole peasants). The American English "Cajun" is derived from Acadian French Cadien. Etymology and historical usage of the term Acadiana is heavily associated with them. Since their establishment in Louisiana, the Cajuns have become famous for their French dialect, Louisiana French, and have developed a vibrant culture including folkways, music, and cuisine. The Acadia region to which many modern Cajuns trace their origin consisted largely of what are now Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island plus parts of eastern Quebec and northern Maine. While Lower Louisiana had been settled by French colonists since the late 17th century, many Cajuns trace their roots to the influx of Acadian settlers after the Great Expulsion from their homeland during the French and British hostilities prior to the French and Indian War (1756 to 1763). Cajuns make up a significant portion of south Louisiana's population and have had an enormous impact on the state's culture. Although the terms Cajun and Creole today are often portrayed as separate identities, Louisianians of Acadian descent have historically been known as Creoles. While Cajuns are usually described as the descendants of the Acadian exiles who went to Louisiana over the course of Le Grand Dérangement, Louisianians frequently use Cajun as a broad cultural term (particularly when referencing Acadiana) without necessitating descent from the deported Acadians. The Cajuns ( / ˈ k eɪ dʒ ən z/ French: les Cadjins or les Cadiens ), also known as Louisiana Acadians (French: les Acadiens), are a Louisiana French ethnicity mainly found in the U.S. Basques) can be considered as separate (ethnically) or French migration (by nationality). This is true for both the collapse method as well as the planer method which uses an angular value to determine how to decimate the object’s geometry. The Decimate modifier uses a slider system in two of its three methods, so you can control exactly how much you want to decimate modifier to affect your model. So what is the difference between the decimate modifier and the Remesh modifier? This is another modifier that loads the geometry of your model to make it easier to use for your 3D viewport. What Is The Difference Between The Decimate Modifier And The Remesh Modifier?Īnother option for reducing the total amount of geometry on your model is to use the Remesh modifier. Examples of this can include models for video games as well as 3D printable models. Keep in mind that the more important the topology of the model is, the less likely you will be to use the decimate modifier as it affectively destroys the topology that you have. In this scenario, the topology of the model is not important, only its appearance, and so to help with your viewport performance, you may want to use the decimate modifier to lower its geometry. For example, if you were to create a scene for the sake of rendering a still image. The Decimate modifier is best suited in situations where the topology of your model is not important to its purpose. However, this is not the best option as the decimate modifier can quickly destroy finer details and there is a much better solution in the form of the Multiresolution modifier for reducing your geometry count in the viewport. It may also be useful to use the decimate modifier after you have created the sculpt of a model which has a lot of geometry density. This is fairly easy to do on mid to lower-end hardware, as well as mobile devices such as laptops. The number one reason why you would want to use the decimate modifier is going to be when your viewport performance is impacted by the geometry density of your scene. There are going to be many situations where you are going to want to use the decimate modifier on your objects to reduce the total amount of geometry, but which situations are these? When Should I Use The Decimate Modifier To Use In Blender? To use the decimate modifier for any object, first select the objects in the 3D viewports, then go to the properties panel and locate the modifiers tab. That means that you can edit this tool while in use. The Decimate modifier is a procedural way of reducing the total amount of geometry on your 3D model. But what are the different ways in which we can use this modifier to reduce our geometry? With the decimate modifier we are able to reduce the overall geometry of almost any 3D model that we create. Then choose the decimate method that you wish to use on your model. To use the decimate modifier in Blender, select your object and then go to the modifiers tab in the properties panel. There are many methods that you can choose for reducing the amount of geometry on your model, but one of the most popular methods is to use the decimate modifier to quickly reduce geometry across the entire object. If you are at Bob Ross' levels of creativity you can create anything with any software though.Different Ways To Cut Through Objects In Blender 3 Though to be honest all of these things could also be accomplished by using GIMP, wich is free. It's a bit finnicky to use at times but one of the easiest animations to make without having to redraw things all the time if you use a certain art style. You can set bones and layers to move things around on the timeline to make your animations. Optional: Spriter (pro): Used for animations only and it's fantastic at it. It really is great for that purpose alone. The best part about this software is that you can copy paste tiles and make mock up levels. Pyxel Edit: I use it for prototyping and creating (non-)animated tilesheets.Ĭan also do animations but I have little experience with that using Pyxel Edit so I can't tell you much. in good time.Īseprite: It's what I mainly use for creating backgrounds, textures, prototyping (basic) animations and making art for use in Spriter. Maybe i'll need to look up a guide and try again sometime and i'll probably will. I can see how useful it could be but again it's a bit too "advanced" for me. With that said I love the options to change your canvas and use Trixels to draw in "3d" so to speak. I have the full version on steam but i never really use it. I had the free version for a while and refreshed the free license a couple times (sorry developers) and tried it but I don't like it for reasons that i'm too inadequate to use it (properly). Marmoset Hexels: from what i've seen it can do anything that all the other programs can do.īut I find its interface a bit too "advanced".

The combination of meter and feet can identify a poem or a poet. Sometimes, I can figure out part of a line, or a couple of lines, but every exception to the standard forms throws me a wobbly and it usually leads to some sort of conclusion or idea about a poem or lyrics – usually something that makes them unusual or atypical. But beware, there is nothing that will help you match the sound of a line to its type or name. You can download a table of different meters in pdf format here: Table of metres/meters: Table of metres For an html version of the table, go here. Unstressed/short syllables can be indicated by a cross (x or˘ above it) and stressed/long syllables by a forward slash (/or a ¯ above it). It is simply difficult to do in a different way. However, having a classical meter and rhythm in a poem does not necessarily mean it’s better than a free-form verse. The more regular or classical the meter, the harder it is to write, and the more skill it takes from the author. It all depends on the effect the poet wants to achieve. Any number of meters and any number of feet are possible in one line. Again, meter and feet, used here, have nothing to do with the measurement of distance. When these meter patterns are repeated in a line of verse, you get the “feet” of the line. So you could ask of any line in a verse, what meter are you? Are you an iamb? Or a trochee? Five basic meter patternsĮnglish poetry basically employs five patterns of varying stressed (/¯) and unstressed (x) syllables. So when counting syllables, you count more than single words – you count the entire interconnected phrase, as you would pronounce it, not as it is spelled. Call it the road markings of a poem.Ī line can be divided either into syllables formed by words or a caesura, a complete pause or break between words in a line of poetry. “Unstressed/stressed” syllables in the English language correspond to “short/long” syllables in classical languages. “Meter” is not the measurement of distance, but the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line of verse. and non-American English) or “meter” in American English which I try to use throughout) is the metrical application of rhythm of a line of verse. I prefer “meter” to “metre” because “metre” is too close for me to the unit of distance. So 70/12 × 0.3048 = 1.78 meters as well.Back to main Elements of poetry page Meter Note that 70/12 = 5.84 - the same value as obtained above.Simply multiply 5 by the denominator (12) and add it to the numerator (10) to get one tidy fraction: 5 feet and 10 inches can be though of as 5 10/12 feet because there are 12 inches in 1 foot.
By opening the Texture Options panel, you can quite easily change the color, shine, diffuse values, and more. You can do the same thing to create a ground plane. Then drag and drop an image from the inspector panel to the cube to automatically map and align with it. Then, a single mouse click while holding the Command key quickly allows you to reshape that cube into a DVD case. For example, first add a cube to the workspace. Drag your images, text, movies, and songs onto the Kinemac stage to include them in your animation. Kinemac’s drag-and-drop interface is convenient and enhances this handy program’s ease of use. Or better, how about a 3D animated graph or pie chart? Creating such elements is quick and easy with Kinemac. You can use Kinemac to create scrolling text, both in 2D and 3D, for a dynamic impact. Let’s say you’re creating a presentation for a meeting and need to spice it up a bit. A bonus is that you see your results in real time. Kinemac allows you to apply surfaces containing reflections, color, transparency, and other variations. You can do more by importing images, movies, and 3D objects from other applications in OBJ and 3DS formats. For many digital artists, this is often all that’s needed. While it’s not a full 3D modeling application that allows full edge control, weight maps, and complex modeling tools, Kinemac does let users build from basic primitives such as tubes, boxes, discs, pies, and more, and generate 3D text and animated charts. It reminded me of Apple’s Pages or a simplified version of Apple’s Motion work environment. When firing up Kinemac for the first time I didn’t find the interface too overwhelming, or too impressive either. When a client is waiting and you’re under a deadline, the critical questions are: Will your software perform and will the quality of the output meet your standards? Kinemac holds up its end of the bargain by delivering what it has promised. But there are times when you really need the combined performance of both a great computer and great software. Most computers today can handle the average 3D animation project right out of the box.
However, one of the downfalls is that it can only be used to boost one network at a time. The most significant advantage that this device has over others is that it’s not limited to the 70dB gain by the FCC like others on the market. It’s a single carrier booster that features industry-leading 100dB gain, and it’s compatible with T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T.
